Indy with Kids is one of my very favorite places to visit when I’m searching for events and happenings around Indianapolis to enjoy with my family. I first came across this amazing resource when searching for things like “Where do kids eat free on Mondays” and “What to do with kids in Indy”. Indy with Kids has truly turned into my #1 stop when we have an open weekend, a rainy day, or just a Tuesday. If you know, you know. Am I right?
Breaks from school, whether they be spring, summer, fall, or winter can either go very fast or very slow. On slower days, I love to get out and create some memories. Indy with Kids even offers resources for things to do, local events, playgrounds, indoor places, preschool guides, event spaces and celebrations, date ideas, road trips, and so much more! And if you’re hesitating because you don’t live in the Indianapolis area- don’t! They cover plenty of other areas that are just short drives from Indy.
Though their website isn’t specific about when Katy Mann started this business, she is listed as “the woman behind Indy with Kids”. Though she started by herself, she now boasts a large team of 16 that works out of 16 Tech/The Amp with a note that most of the team works remotely. They proudly invite moms to visit and have a coffee or grab a bite of food. Indy with Kids, in addition to digital resources, now proudly offers a Facebook group and networking opportunities for moms in need of in-person social activities.
Indy with Kids provides parents, grandparents, and guardians with a full calendar for the local Indianapolis area. They also present an ultimate guide to seasonal fun in Indiana, indoor play places, outdoor fun, parks and playgrounds, and a list of places specifically catered to the special needs community. Under their Kids Eat Free tab, you can find restaurants listed for each day of the week. Their preschool and summer camp guides round out the best-loved places to enroll in the greater Indianapolis area.
Despite all of their offerings, their specialty is still the “Ultimate Guide to Summer Fun in Indiana”. Indy with Kids offers a summer guide that lists out opportunities for fun like free and cheap summer movies, Indiana water parks, swimming beaches, splash pads, 4th of July fireworks, concerts in parks, swimming pools, swimming lessons, strawberry picking, and MORE! Their fall guide will go over the best spots to pick apples, pumpkins, festivals, costumed fun, haunted houses, and where to see colorful trees. Their winter guide covers the best places to go ice skating, the Christkindlmarkt in Carmel, where to see Christmas lights, and rounds out with indoor activities including duckpin bowling, library classes, family volunteer opportunities, and indoor pools. And last but not least, their spring guide includes a round of parks, hikes, egg hunts, bike rides, skate parks, movie theaters, and a plethora of at-home activity ideas.
Indy with Kids is a never-ending pool of the perfect ideas for what to do in the greater Indianapolis area with your family. I haven’t even begun to cover their amazing date night ideas (a few of which my partner and I have done) and road trip ideas for places like Grand Rapids, St. Louis, Nashville, Indiana Dunes, French Lick, and so much more! If you’re looking for a local guide, Indy with Kids is the number one place I’d recommend.
Once you’ve decided on an adventure, it’s time to consider family portraits. I’m a local Indianapolis photographer specializing in maternity, newborn, and family photography. As a mother of four children who grow faster by the day, I understand the importance of documenting the “now”. As a photographer, I most enjoy capturing each child with each parent. I love exploring the bonds we, as parents, create with each child. If you’ve been searching for the perfect photographer for your family, I’d love to connect and show you why I’m different from the crowd.
